I love christmas, not only because I get to watch Love Actually 1000 times over without looking a little sad (It really is on TV all the time at Christmas) but because I love Christmas adverts.
Never mind Coca Cola - The ad’s are always so predictable. Lorry/train/sleigh comes over hill. Everyone looks on Curious. Ends with a big smile and a glug of sugary pop. It just doesn’t excite me.
The Marks and Spencer Christmas Advert is a bit of a let down this year. Mainly due to the over use of lens flare and the fact that the XFactor contestants feature in it. I also don’t like the fact that they used that particular track. The bottom line is, it’s cheesy and tacky.
On the other hand the John Lewis Christmas 2011 Advert more than makes up for the disappointment I encountered when I saw the M&S Ad. The compositions are lovely and the concept behind the ad is witty, yet so sugary sweet it give coke a run for thier money!
Now all I am waiting for is some Jamie Oliver Christmas magic. Bring on the Sainbury’s Christmas Ad’s 2011. (It’s Jamie’s last year featuring in them)
